Today, the transition years for CAPS Collaborative have come to a head and the organization is finding a new groove in the region. The former Special Education Director of Winchendon Public Schools, Cindy Landanno, became the new Executive Director of CAPS in August 2015. Along with vast special education knowledge, Cindy brought with her years of teaching and classroom experience as well as a keen understanding for the different types of students who attend CAPS. Program quality and depth of services CAPS can offer are ongoing goals here for the organization and Cindy’s leadership ability coupled with her foresight into the region’s needs has begun new and exciting ventures at the Collaborative.
Also developing, the Gateway School and Satellite Program Coordinators, Jennifer Gates and Sheri D’Annolfo, are both moving into their second years in the positions and have already turned one classroom programs into K – 12 opportunities. CAPS also employs highly professional specialists that have expanded services beyond classroom programming. In-depth Therapies, Assessments, Consultation, Evaluation are becoming just a fraction of the related services CAPS can offer districts to help fill the gaps in their educational commitments. Beyond the classroom, staff trainings and professional teaching are beginning to be offered regularly throughout the Collaborative.
Previously known for being in the dark ages of the technological world, CAPS proudly presents a state-of-the-art Professional Development Center in its main building at Sonoma Square. Comfortably fitting 40 guests, the doors have been opened to district meetings, community groups, and DESE leadership while even holding corporate events.
Our dedicated team of professionals care so deeply for our students and strive to give them the most nurturing and innovative learning environments possible. “
-Cindy Landanno, E.D., 2016, Message from Executive Director
